A New Venture

Just a little update on my Pampered Chef party. I'm just $32 short of the next level. Hopefully by tonight I will have it finished up.
Yesterday I bought 200 yards of ribbon for a new business venture I'm starting with my mom. My sister over at Shagga Bear made these adorable Korker Bows. I'm hoping that I've not bitten off more than I can chew. I've been wanting to do something at home to generate a little income. This seems like a fun way to do that. And once I get the ribbon and get it curled I can work on them in the few quiet moments that I have while AJ is at school. I hope that this will get me through the dark winter days that are left. I am craving sunshine, flowers, and leaves so much. The snow that is left is slushy and gray. I keep looking for my little tulips that I planted last fall. Soon I'll be able to post a picture of all the lovely blooms.

Party Time

Last night was my Pampered Chef party. I love having parties and inviting people over and fixing food. Last night was no exception. I made a lot of food and enjoyed those who came. I didn't get a whole lot of sales but I'm hoping that between the people at church who said they would order and MOPS friends that I can reach my goal. I have two things that I'm hoping to get for free seeing as there isn't a lot of extra money floating around our house these days.

I let AJ stay up last night as long as he behaved. Here are a couple of pictures of him helping make the yummy chocolate dishes.

He also got to taste the things he helped make. He was actually pretty entertaining. My consultant was asking questions about chocolate and offering prizes for the correct answers. One question was how many grams of caffiene in a cup of coffee. I guessed 50 and Andrew rattled off the number 90. He was the closest to the right answer of 93. He got the prize, it was hilarious.

Wordless Wednesday

A Wedding in New York

Saturday my parents, Nathan, the baby, and I drove to New York State for the wedding of a friend of mine from high school. It was a five hour drive and I am NOT used to being up that early in the morning. We had no problems finding the church and were almost 2 hours early. It was a beautiful wedding. My friend Laura had a beautiful simple dress. She found the bridesmaids dresses at the mall for $25 a piece. They carried one sunflower each tied with toile. Laura's bouquet was mums and sunflowers tied with toile. The groomsmen all wore black suits with matching ties and vests. The wedding was really simple done on a small budget and was really lovely.
Nathan and I enjoyed getting out for a day without distractions. We had a nice time visiting with mom and dad. Peanut did well on the trip too. She spent a lot of time in the carseat and was very relieved to see her bed that night.

School

Last Monday was supposed to be AJ's first day of preschool. He was very excited. We registered him for the afternoon class at the local preschool. Both Puk Puk and Doodle Bug, my nephew and neice, attended there so I'm familiar with the routine. Andrew kept asking if today was a school day. Mommy was pretty excited too, for the quiet afternoons. So far though I haven't gotten the quiet part yet.
That morning we went to Picture People and got family pictures taken. Then AJ was supposed to go to school. Due to extremely cold weather he wasn't able to go. They canceled school here for two days. AJ ended up with a short week at school.
Today is his first Monday. We're hoping for a full we however the weather reports are finally calling for a big snow storm here and are predicting no school on Wednesday. Honestly, I think it's about time we got more snow than an inch or so. I'm kind of jealous of Northern New York and their 8 feet. I guess we'll just have to move. :)

The Toilet Trials Continue

The other morning as I was putting laundry away upstairs I happened to glance in the bathroom as I walked by. There stood JM, 2, next to the toilet sticking his hand in and then putting it in his mouth. How Gross!! Needless to say there was some serious hand scrubbing and some discipline.
Lately JM has been taking his diaper off when he's in bed. I'm waiting until it gets warm to potty train him so I don't have to do lots more laundry from all his pants getting dirty. This morning I walked into the boys room and JM's crib was on the floor. AJ was somehow involved and JM was standing on top stark naked. He had stripped and climbed on top. Dear Lord help me. These two boys are very very busy. Thankfully though our day has calmed down somewhat. It's pretty quiet here. Two of the children are sleeping and the other is reading books.

Mama Lily sent me a link to this awesome contest at 5 Minutes for Mom. The winner gets a gift certificate to Stork Calling Birth Announcements. They will record your voice announcing your baby's birth and all the important stats and then call 50 people of your choice and play the announcement. If no one answers then they put it on their answering machine or voicemail. How cool would that be???

Men and Football

This is something I just don't understand. My husband is not a sports fan by any stretch of the imagination. There is no sport that he watches...ever! He likes to play for the church softball team in the summer but he doesn't follow any baseball teams. We have a family friend that loves the Indians. He and his wife follow their whole season and plan their social activities around when the games are on t.v. My brother-in-law is a Steelers fan. No one is perfect I say. However, he watches them play and usually knows how their season is going. My brother loves West Virginia football. As long as I can remember he's been a fan. Another brother-in-law is a big Browns fan. He watches football at his grandmother's almost weekly. But my husband is somehow missing the gene.
He has not watched one football game at all this year. Not even a little bit of football. Then on Sunday when they announced the Super Bowl Party he was all ready to go. I asked him who was in the Super Bowl and HE DIDN'T KNOW!!!!! I on the other hand have watched several games this year and knew that the Colts and the Bears were playing. Needless to say, I gave him much hounding on the subject!
I did get to go with him and we had a good time with no children. The Colts won! YEAH!!!!!! We each won a door prize too. My darling husband picked a football. This gave me much amusement. But he will enjoy it in the back yard this summer with the boys!
